2 Blackhawks Prospects To Watch In NCAA Frozen Four

The Chicago Blackhawks had seven prospects make the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25. They have a lot of young talent in the pipeline and a fair number of them are playing college hockey.

Five of those seven have been eliminated as we are now at the Frozen Four. Of those five, Taige Harding, Sam Rinzel, and Oliver Moore have signed their entry level contracts.

Harding's kicks in next year and he is finishing this season with the Rockford IceHogs on an ATO. Rinzel and Moore have joined the Blackhawks to play out the rest of the regular season. Both of them, especially Rinzel, look like they belong.

The Frozen Four will take place at Scottrade Center, home of the St. Louis Blues. Boston University, Penn State, Denver, and Western Michigan are the four teams still alive looking to take the National Championship home.

Aidan Thompson is one of Chicago's two remaining prospects in this tournament. He is in his third season at Denver, which has seen him take a big jump. Thompson and Denver are looking to go back-to-back.

Chicago's third-round pick in 2022 is having a banner year offensively. He has 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points. While wearing an "A" on his sweater, he is also a defined leader on a great team.

Their other remaining prospect is Ryan Greene of Boston University. He is Chicago's second-round pick in 2022. Like Thompson, he took a step with his leadership role in 2024-25 as BU named him to be their captain.

As far as production goes, Greene had himself another good year. This is his third year with the Terriers and he has set a new career high in points. Greene has 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points in 38 games played.

The offense for Greene doesn't match that of Thompson, but hockey isn't all about offense. He is one of those captains who plays the game the right way every night. You can go a long way in hockey by working hard.

The first semi-final game on Thursday afternoon will be between Denver and Western Michigan at 4 PM CT. The next one will be between BU and Penn State at 7:30 PM CT. Both matches can be seen on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

The winner of each game will play on Saturday night for all of the marbles. There is a chance that the two Blackhawks prospects will face off in the championship.

College hockey is always incredible and now Blackhawks fans have a reason to watch the season's conclusion.
