The NFL Draft is less than three weeks away and we cannot wait for the event to officially open. As of right now, the Tennessee Titans will be kicking off the draft and there are signs that they are leaning towards going with a quarterback, specifically Cam Ward out of Miami. While teams in the early part of the draft will get their chance at picking some of the best prospects, there other teams that will have to wait for quite some time.
The Buffalo Bills are one of those teams who may have to wait for awhile for their first pick at No. 30. Even though the Bills are down near the bottom of the first round, don’t think they won’t make a move to potentially move up. Since 2022, the Bills have traded up in the first round twice to acquire CB Kaiir Elam and TE Dalton Kincaid. They have also shown that they have no issue trading out of the first round, just like last year.
The Bills have ten draft picks to use and it’s hard to imagine them not making any trades that involve moving up at some point. Brandon Beane is not afraid to move up to acquire a player that he believes could make big impact, as long as it doesn’t cost him a high price.
If the Bills are sitting there at No. 30 and the second half of the draft comes and one of these three prospects are still available, it be foolish of Brandon Beane to not atleast attempt to move up the board.
3 prospects Bills should storngly consider trading up for
DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan
Maybe the Bills won’t have to trade up to get Kenneth Grant, but if the Bills feel that another team could be a threat to take them, then they will have to. Grant has a massive frame and can bull-rush his way to stop the run and force pressure in the pocket. With the Bills needing some depth and an eventual starter to replace DaQuan Jones, Grant is a perfect fit to pair with Ed Oliver.
WR Matthew Golden, Texas
The player that caught the most attention at the NFL combine was Texas wideout Matthew Golden who ran a 4.29 40-yard dash. His ability to separate from defenders should be a dream that quarterbacks want to help them down the field. In one year with the Longhorns, Golden shined with just 13 yards under 1,000 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns.
Adding Golden to Buffalo’s offense and having him be an option for Josh Allen would be super dangerous. Due to Golden’s performance at the combine, he may go earlier than we thought and it might take a little bit for the Bills to trade up and get him.
CB Will Johnson, Michigan
Getting Will Johnson may be the most unlikeliest scenario for the Bills, but never say never. A recent Pro Football Focus (PFF) mock draft had the Bills trading up from No. 30 all the way up to No. 19 (trading away picks No. 30 and No. 62 to the Buccaneers) to select Johnson.
Johnson is easily a top-three corner in this draft and if he is available halfway through the draft, the Bills should really consider taking a risk on bringing Johnson to Buffalo to pair with Christian Benford. Johnson is the perfect fit for Buffalo’s defense and the Bills would essentially have two CB1’s on their team.
