3 Saints who can earn a new contract during 2024 NFL season

Paulson Adebo

Adebo enters a massive contract year for the outlook of the rest of his career. The cornerback is fresh off the best season of his career, spending part of the season as the team's top CB while Marshon Lattimore was injured.

If Adebo can prove himself once again in 2024, he may price himself out of the range that New Orleans can afford following the season. He's developed into a much more consistent cornerback under Dennis Allen, so we will see how much interest he has in leaving the black and gold.

Pete Werner

Just like Adebo, Werner will need an extension following the upcoming season if he wants to stay with the Saints. Werner has new competition in the linebacker room with the addition of Willie Gay Jr.

The young linebacker is coming off the worst season of his NFL career so far. He was banged up, but Werner recorded just a 57.5 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2023. He must show more consistency in 2024 in order to get another deal with the team.

Rashid Shaheed

This is the one who may worry fans the most. The Saints' current WR room is cheap, compared to much of the NFL. Accordingly, they will have a major decision on whether or not to pay up for Shaheed during or after the upcoming season.

Shaheed has become one of the most under-the-radar receivers in the league. His analytical numbers are quite impressive - as he's getting open at an elite level. The former undrafted rookie deserves an extension with the Saints, but it will not be cheap.
