The Bruins picked up a big win against the Sharks.
The Boston Bruins picked up an important 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday afternoon. With this, the Bruins now have the same number of points as the Ottawa Senators and have moved in front of the Montreal Canadiens.
Let's go over three takeaways from the Bruins' clutch win over the Sharks now.
The Bruins were down 3-2 at the start of the third period. While the Bruins were in a tough spot, Charlie Coyle bailed them out with an excellent third period. Coyle tied the game up at the 8:22 mark of the third and then scored the eventual game-winner at 14:11. He also added an assist for good measure on Elias Lindholm's empty-netter.
Seeing Coyle break the ice with a performance like this is excellent. We will need to wait and see if this helps him turn his campaign around from here.
Heading into this matchup, Joonas Korpisalo allowed a combined 11 goals over his two previous starts. The 30-year-old netminder dealt had some rough appearances, but he undoubtedly turned things back around against San Jose.
Korpisalo stopped 25 out of San Jose's 28 shots in the Bruins' win. He made some big-time stops in the process, so it was a strong game for the veteran.
David Pastrnak stayed hot in this one, extending his goal streak to four games with his second-period power-play goal. In addition, he added an assist on Brad Marchand's empty-netter.
With this, Pastrnak now has nine goals and 15 points over his last eight contests.
