A thrilling four-goal third period fueled a Flyers comeback Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, leading to a 5-4 overtime win for the orange and black.

Late-game heroics from Owen Tippett – who tallied four points from the third period on, including three assists and the OT-winner, along with Travis Konecny, who also tallied three assists, and Morgan Frost, who scored twice in the third. Noah Cates and Tyson Foerster each scored a goal and earned an assist as well.

The Flyers improved to 15-15-4 after Saturday’s win.

The biggest takeaway from Saturday’s action was the fact that the Flyers never said die. Down 2-0 heading into the third period, the Flyers were able to erase the deficit before the first half of the period was over.

Twice in the third period, the Flyers responded to the Blue Jackets regaining the lead with quick scores, including Foerster’s goal with just 1:44 left on the game clock.

Tippett’s flashy overtime winner sealed the game for Philly, as five scores in the final 23:30 of the game led to a big comeback win for the Flyers.

Owen Tippett is heating up. In his last 10 games, the Flyers forward has totaled 11 points, seven coming from goals, with the other four being assists.

After getting a big-time extension just under a year ago, Tippett had a rather disappointing start to the season. With Tippett seemingly catching fire, it is a great sign for things to come in Philly.

Tyson Foerster is also starting to get hot, as he has tallied six points (3G, 3A) in his last three games.

Going against the 27th-ranked penalty-killing team in the league, the Flyers had an opportunity to get things going on the power play.

The addition of Matvei Michkov to the power play gave Philly an early boost with the man advantage, but it has since gone dormant. With four tries last night against a bottom-six PK team, the Flyers continued to disappoint, being unable to generate any real chances.

The Flyers will head to Pittsburgh to take on their cross-state rival Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on December 23rd, with puck drop slated for 7:00 p.m.
