Aformer New York Jets head coach continues to find success.
Todd Bowles received a multi-year contract extension to remain the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“The leaders of the most successful five-year stretch in Bucs history are staying in the Bay 💪,” the team posted on social media.

“The team didn’t provide terms, but sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Bowles’ deal is a three-year extension through the 2028 season,” Adam Schefter wrote in a column.
The Key to Success Is Belief and Continuity
“Contractual continuity in Tampa: Buccaneers have signed head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to multi-year contract extensions, per sources. Bowles now enters his fourth year as the Bucs’ head coach after leading the team to three consecutive NFC South titles from 2022-24. Licht is currently the NFL’s fifth-longest tenured traditional general manager, entering his 12th season as the team’s GM,” ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed on X previously Twitter.

People staying together creates consistency. The key to people staying together is doing your job well enough that you keep returning the next year.
Bowles has clearly checked that box.
Since joining the team in 2019, the Bucs rank first in opponents’ yards per carry (4.0), first in run defense (allowing 98.9 yards per game), first in fumble recoveries (68), second in the league in sacks (281), and top five in red zone efficiency (53.8%).

Tampa Bay is the only team in the NFC to make the playoffs every year over the last five seasons.
A Silver Lining for the Jets…
It sucks to see your ex go on to do great things.
Bowles had a 10-6 record in 2015. That is the only winning season the Jets have had in the last 14 years. Bowles left, and the Jets continued to stink. While the talented defensive mind has reached the ultimate destination.
Since leaving the green and white, Bowles won a Super Bowl as an assistant, became a head coach again, and has consistently won.
Bowles has a 27-24 record as the HC in Tampa Bay. He has won three straight NFC South titles as the head coach of the Bucs.
“Todd Bowles becomes the first Buccaneers head coach to receive a contract extension since Jon Gruden in 2008. His 27 wins through three seasons as HC trails only Bruce Arians (31) in team history,” NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo posted on social media.

The reason this should be optimistic for Jets fans is that Tampa Bay hasn’t always been good.
Tampa Bay experienced a 12-year playoff drought from 2008 through 2019. In 2020, the Bucs won the Super Bowl. Good things come to those who wait. It did for Tampa, and it could for the Jets if Aaron Glenn is the right guy.
