Superstar free agent Juan Soto seems to have taken a huge step towards his future. As per his super agent Scott Boras , Soto has started ‘eliminating’ teams from contention.
After the heartbreaking loss in the 2024 World Series, the four-time All-Star claimed that he was open to joining all 30 teams. Several teams were said to have been interested in him. The number of these would come down to five, as they submitted an official offer for him.
Speaking at the introductory press conference of Blake Snell, Boras was asked about Soto. The agent admitted that he and his client meet several teams and that Soto is very methodical. However, unlike the reports, Boras does not think any decision from him is imminent.
When you’re going through these things, he’s just got a lot of information to meld through. We’ve had meetings with a number of franchises. He’s begun the process of eliminating teams and doing things. Juan is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think anything is imminent in the future.

The New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Boston Red Sox are the teams who submitted an offer to him. While the Yankees recently upped their bid to improve their standings, Mets owner Steve Cohen claimed only “time will tell” who Soto chooses.
In the past few days, several reports had emerged of the Red Sox agreeing a deal with him. However, MLB insider Jeff Passan would later dismiss these talks. As of yet, no official decision has been taken by Soto.
Juan Soto reportedly expected to decide on free agency by end of the week
Ever since Juan Soto became a free agent, the majority of fans in MLB have been waiting for an official announcement regarding his decision. Reports are now suggesting that he could announce his decision by the end of this week before the Winter Meetings.
This year the Winter Meetings will take place from December 9 to 12 in Dallas Texas. In this meeting, executives and league officials gather together and discuss deals, trades, and other league business.
As per SNY insider Andy Martino, many people in the industry believe that Soto will make his choice before this meeting kicks off in Dallas.
Everyone I talk to who’s involved in this at any level believes that the news will drop this week, before Dallas

Other reports suggest that the bidding for Soto has surpassed the speculated $600 million mark. It now comes down to who Soto chooses and prefers to play for in the 2025 season. One thing for certainty is that this deal will make him one of the highest-paid players not just in the league, but across the Big Four sports of the US as well.
