The ABC drama is playing with viewers' emotions when it comes to their favorite TV dispatcher.
Maddie Buckley Han (Jennifer Love Hewitt) has been through quite a lot on 9-1-1 season 8 — and fans are begging the show to ensure that she stays OK for the rest of the season!
The beloved character was the center of a major plot line in the winter premiere of the ABC series this season, with Maddie being kidnapped and tortured amid a case involving a mentally ill detective, a slew of fake emergency phone calls and heightened stakes of danger for Maddie and the entire 118. While folks got to see Maddie attempt to recover from the traumatic experience in the March 20 episode, it looks like things aren't exactly over yet in her healing journey.
As folks learned in a promo video for the March 27 episode (titled "Disconnected"), Maddie finds herself back to work at the dispatch center. But while she says she can overcome her jitters about getting back into the swing of things, she doesn't anticipate a panic attack coming on from trying to help the victim on the other line.
"It's just first day back jitters," Maddie ominously says in the clip posted on Instagram.

Given how much Maddie has gone through so far this season, fans immediately went to the comments to voice their opinions of Maddie's future.
"GIVE MY GIRL PEACE FOR ONE DAMN EPISODE," one person shouted in the comments. "You guys for reallllll, don’t put Maddie in danger anymore plsssss😢," another lamented. "Maddie has been through enough please leave her aloneee 😭😭," a different follower added.
Even though we don't exactly know how Maddie will fare now that she's back at work, fans are intrigued to see where this new stumbling block takes her. And it looks like more is on the way when it comes to the other members of the 118 this week, too.
Alongside Maddie dealing with the aftermath of her kidnapping, folks will also get to see Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) trying to settle in his new Texas surroundings. And this is all happening as he's trying to bond with his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh), leading the two on an unfamiliar path toward their approaches to family.
Well, we certainly need to know more of what's coming for our favorite first responders!
