At the end of season 7, Gavin McHugh‘s Christopher told his grandparents he wanted to go to Texas to live with them, at least for the summer. Fans missed his character greatly during season 8!
Gavin did end up back on season 8, and he posted season 9′s renewal news on Instagram, writing, “That’s right, 9-1-1 is coming back for a NEW SEASON!! I couldn’t be more excited to be back with my 9-1-1 family soon!” This seemingly confirms he’ll be back.

Speculation ran rampant after Ryan posted a series of Instagram Stories that appeared as if he was saying goodbye.
“Well, it officially happened. It’s the last day on this lot. 9-1-1 — part of the legacy. Stage 6, I’ll miss ya. Seven years. That’s crazy,” he said, before he showed a plaque that depicted all the shows that have filmed at that same location.
“Welp, guys, Season 8, in the bag. That’s it. No more Fox lot. Eddie Diaz, signing out,” he updated.
Some fans began to worry this was his way of saying goodbye. However, there’s an update!

Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Tommy – Exited
Lou Ferrigno Jr. exited in late 2024 as Tommy.
Lou played Tommy for three seasons.
In his last episode, he and Buck, who he started dating in Season 7, broke up after Buck learned that Tommy was engaged to Buck’s ex-girlfriend, Abby Clark (Connie Britton), who Buck dated in Season 1.
Tommy eventually ended the relationship after realizing that Buck wasn’t ready to move in together and they weren’t a match.
