9-1-1 wrapped up Season 8 with an emotional gut punch — and one of the standout moments belonged to Ravi Panikkar, played by Anirudh Pisharody. In a new interview, the rising star opened up about what filming that scene meant to him — and why he’s more ready than ever for a full episode centered on his character.
The finale gave Ravi one of his most vulnerable moments yet, as he confronted a life-or-death situation that challenged not just his firefighting instincts, but his emotional resilience. “It was cathartic,” Pisharody said. “It’s the kind of scene every actor hopes for — raw, messy, real.”
Fans were quick to praise the performance online, calling Ravi’s arc one of the most underrated of the season. Many are now calling for a long-overdue “Ravi Begins” episode — a tradition on the show that has spotlighted beloved characters like Chimney, Bobby, and Hen in the past.
And Anirudh agrees.
“There’s so much we haven’t explored,” he said. “Ravi has this quiet strength, but also so much fear and self-doubt. I’d love to dive into what made him who he is — his past, his family, his motivations.”
Pisharody also praised the cast and crew for trusting him with such a pivotal moment in the finale. “I’m grateful. It shows that Ravi is more than just backup at the 118. He’s becoming part of the heart of this team.”
As 9-1-1 gears up for Season 9, fans are hopeful Ravi’s story is just beginning — and judging by Anirudh’s passion, that “Ravi Begins” episode might not be far off.
