The decision to kill off the beloved 118 captain and fan-favorite character in 9-1-1 season 8, episode 15, was met with controversy, and there has been backlash over the decision. However, season 9 presents the opportunity for the show to move on from Bobby's death, and the confirmation of two returning popular characters is sure to help with this.
A production video posted on the 911onABC TikTok account revealed the return of Corinne Massiah's May Grant and Marcanthonee Reis's Harry Grant, the children of Angela Bassett's Athena Grant, and stepchildren to the late Bobby Nash.
Massiah and Reis posed together with a placard announcing "First Day of Production," confirming their involvement in season 9. Check out the clip below:

They Will Be Integral To Helping Athena Heal

Bobby Nash and Athena Grant are arguably the heart of 9-1-1, but the ABC procedural is overlooking an unresolved conflict in their season 8 storyline.
The siblings' return could indicate that there will be a strong focus on Athena, and her journey to move on from Bobby's death. Her kids can help her through the loss of Bobby. This isn't the first time that Athena has lost a love. But while there's no doubt that she would carry on, it still wouldn't be easy for her.
Our Take On May & Harry Coming Back
It's Just What 9-1-1 Season 9 Needs

9-1-1 season 9 is set to be a hugely important season for the hit procedural, and the narrative will need to honor Bobby's passing in the right way, while moving on from him as well. Athena will no doubt have a difficult season, wanting to do her job to the best of her ability while still mourning the loss of her husband in the process.
May and Harry will be essential for helping give Athena emotional support, as well as connecting the audience with some legacy characters again, following Bobby's departure. It will be interesting to see the direction the show chooses to take, and how prominent a role May and Harry will play in 9-1-1 moving forward.
