A Few Reasons Why J.T. Miller Shouldn't Be Captain

1. The Maven would not be surprised if there's "leakage" from the Good Ship Ranger regarding J.T. Miller and the Blueshirts' captaincy.

2. If, in fact, Miller captaincy leakage is true, from management's viewpoint, it's a good idea. Why not let the Miller out of the bag ahead of time, if for no other reason than to judge fan reaction.

3. From the Chris Drury view, Miller – as captain – makes sense; the Rangers paid dearly for him. What's more, Miller has more juice than captain candidates such as Breadman Panarin or Adam Fox.

4. At least Miller has some sandpaper left in his game; not Artemi, not Adam and certainly not the club's Sideshow Charlie act – alias Mika.

5. But here's why Miller should not be captain. Drury traded for him to lead the Blueshirts into the playoffs and he did nothing of the kind. Drury also traded for him to inject spirit in the locker room. There was more spirit in a can of Hershey's Chocolate syrup than in the R's clubhouse.

6. Frankly, The Maven was hoping that J.T. would prove to be the second coming of Mark Messier. (You know what they say: "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.") Miller was as close to a Messier as the Staten Island Ferry.
