There aren't many times fans hear a player share support for their rival's offseason move, but Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was not afraid to do that.
Brown released a video Friday showcased him spending time with people to have an open conversation. The insightful hour and five-minute discussion covered the topics of mental health, among others.
One person brought up the Dallas Cowboys trading with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a wide receiver George Pickens. Brown was honest about it as he didn't mind the move made by the team.
Brown has been an open book throughout his career
Since the Eagles traded for Brown in the 2022 NFL Draft, he has brought a different element to this organization. He and Jalen Hurts have built quite the chemistry together as Brown has been the leading receiver for the Eagles in each of his three seasons on the team.
Brown has produced three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and has caught at least seven touchdowns in a year since 2022. He's also been selected for two Pro Bowls and was on the AP second-team All-Pro three straight seasons.
It hasn't always been perfect for Brown in Philadelphia, though. Last year, there were concerns that he and Hurts were having issues due to the lack of targets he was getting. Brown was also caught reading a book on the sidelines, which blew up bigger than needed as he read "Inner Excellence" to help control his emotions.
Philadelphia has always been able to rely on Brown to step up in the most significant moments, and he played a massive role in the Eagles capturing their second Super Bowl title. His public comments regarding his love for the city have eased the minds of all Eagles fans after months of offseason rumors of him getting traded.
Is Brown right that the Eagles need to worry about the Cowboys?
Pickens was a good addition for Dallas, which needed a second receiver to work alongside Lamb, but will it make that much of a difference? In 2022, Pickens played against the Eagles and the Steelers during his rookie season, where he had only three targets and no receptions. Lamb didn't have that much success against the Eagles either, as last year, he caught just six passes for 21 yards in one game.
Cowboys fans will turn their face at the argument about the Eagles' recent success against them, especially last year, where Philadelphia outscored Dallas 75-13 without Dak Prescott starting those games. The Eagles have won four of the previous six matchups against the Cowboys.
The counter to that argument is that Prescott doesn't play defense, so there is more concern about the defense than the offense. Pickens gives them another weapon, but did Dallas do enough to build their defense to win a Super Bowl?
Brown deserves a lot of respect for taking the high road on the question and respecting the Cowboys with his response. He showed his competitiveness and wants Dallas to compete against the Eagles.
The Cowboys' roster still has gaps that can't match what Philadelphia has right now, so Dallas will still be playing catch-up.
