A Morgan Frost departure feels inevitable

With 4:22 remaining in the third period of the Philadelphia Flyers’ matchup with the Utah Hockey Club on Sunday, Morgan Frost may have stamped his ticket out of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Flyers' Morgan Frost Not Developing as Expected

The Flyers were on a pivotal power play in what was at that point, a hotly contested one-goal game. Jamie Drysdale, who had goal disallowed earlier in the contest due to Travis Konency making contact with Utah goalie Jaxson Stauber, dropped a “slingshot” pass to the oncoming Frost in order to try to capitalize on the quickly expiring man advantage.

It is a very routine play, one that happens multiple times on nearly every power play. The trailing Frost took the pass one-handed on his backhand side, and while it wasn’t clear due to the camera angle, Frost appears to be looking up ice before glancing down at the last minute, and, possibly in a tribute to Brad Marchand, completely whiffing on the pass, leaving the puck stranded helplessly just above the right circle.
