A New Beginning For Former Las Vegas Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow

The Las Vegas Raiders’ 2019 draft class was truly one for the ages. Although first-round selections Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abrams didn’t end up evolving into what the team had hoped for, the rest of the draft welcomed star-studded talent. That includes the All-Pro duo of Josh Jacobs and Maxx Crosby, the duo of Raiders starters Trayvon Mullen and Foster Moreau, and Pro Bowl receiver Hunter Renfrow.

Renfrow had promising ’12 and ’20 campaigns with the Silver and Black, but really found his groove in 2021 with a 103-catch, 1,038-yard season that welcomed nine touchdowns. For his efforts, the Clemson alum received a Pro Bowl nod at the season’s end.

More than that, Renfrow was given a two-year, $32 million extension during the NFL’s ’22 offseason.

Injuries and adjustments to a new scheme that season resulted in a downward spiral for Renfrow, however. The now-29-year-old went his ’22 and ’23 campaigns with a combined 61 catches, 585 yards and two scores. Quite a different story than his first three seasons in the National Football League.

One year into the extension, Renfrow was cut from the Raiders. And now, after a one-year break from NFL action, the receiver dubbed ‘Slot-machine’ is back in the big leagues. This time, as a member of the Carolina Panthers.

Renfrow agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers on Sunday. While the former Clemson walk-on is no longer a member of the Silver and Black, we wish him the best with the second chapter of his football career.

Once a Raider, always a Raider.
