Aaron Glenn Has Reportedly Made His Opinion On Aaron Rodgers Clear

Newly-minted New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has the unenviable task of leading the team that once drafted him into an era of respectability, if not sustained success. The first item on the agenda is figuring out whether 40-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a part of the team's future, or even its present.

Following the season, Rodgers was his usual cryptic self in addressing his future, suggesting that he was going to take some time before announcing whether he'd be playing in 2025 or not.

It's widely been believed that even if Rodgers wants to stay in New York, the leadership doesn't want him. But between Glenn and new head coach Darren Mougey, there's new leadership deciding on Rodgers' fate.

As far as Glenn's opinion on Rodgers goes, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator seems ready to welcome him back with open arms.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Glenn is "open" to the idea of Rodgers coming back to the team next season.

Of course, being "open" to running it back with Rodgers is very different from making that a reality. Neither Glenn nor Mougey have even had their introductory press conferences yet, let alone time to evaluate the Jets roster.

As it stands, Rodgers has a very large cap hit and no real way to circumvent it until June 1. So their hands may be tied on that front.

But as is tradition with teams going into a season with both a new head coach and new general manager, there's a desire to bring in a new quarterback too. Perhaps Rodgers can serve as the bridge quarterback to whoever the Jets intend to draft in April or someone already on the roster.

Or maybe Rodgers just gives 2025 the old "last dance" treatment and treats the season as his final NFL season regardless of whether it ends with a Super Bowl or a losing campaign.

The only thing we can expect when it comes to Aaron Rodgers is something unexpected. The same applies to the New York Jets.
