Per Deadline, ABC's 2025 Fall schedule will include a 9-1-1 block from 8 pm to 10 pm every Thursday, beginning with the flagship series which will lead in to its newest spinoff. This paves the way for there to be special crossovers between the two series, with an ABC executive teasing that the new show would arrive with a bang. "I think that the 9-1-1 team are truly the masters of event-izing television, the way that be-nado kicked off 9-1-1 last year," Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group said. "They have a really special event planned for 9-1-1: Nashville."

While Erwich also said that 9-1-1 crossovers haven't been discussed yet, but noted that he thinks "it’s an incredible opportunity that I’m sure at some point we’ll figure out how to capitalize on." He also applauded 9-1-1 showrunners, Tim Minear and Ryan Murphy for their storytelling. "What the 9-1-1's been able to do, it’s really a master class in television, which is consistently event-izing that show to keep it fresh after all these many years," he said.

Erwich also called 9-1-1: Nashville a "huge priority" for the network. The upcoming drama series is set to premiere this fall, following 9-1-1: Lone Star, which concluded earlier in 2025. Chris O'Donnell leads the cast as Captain Don Sharpe, with LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Capshaw and Kimberly Williams-Paisley also confirmed to be starring.

The original 9-1-1 series, which launched the franchise and stars Angela Bassett and Peter Krause, will be going into its ninth season. Both series explore the high-stakes world of emergency responders, including firefighters, police officers and paramedics, as they try to protect and save the lives of those in danger. The franchise has been praised for its high-profile cast and intense action that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

In addition to teasing 9-1-1: Nashville's special event, Erwich also talked about the original 9-1-1 series and its shocking twist that saw Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) die, leaving his wife, Athena (Bassett), in shock. "As a viewer, it was incredibly emotional. He's a beloved character, and there was so much grist for the mill for Angela Bassett, who I thought gave such an incredible performance in both the episode where he died and the funeral," Erwich said.

He believes that the shocking plot twist will keep fans talking and set up 9-1-1: Nashville for even more success. "It was a really great night of television that created a massive amount - not just of viewing, but really social conversation," Erwich said. "And I think it’ll give us a lot of momentum going into Thursdays next year. And it’ll be a great lead-off for 9-1-1 Nashville, which will be a huge priority for us."
