Bravo’s beloved Real Housewives franchise may capture the lives of elite women in cities like Miami, Beverly Hills, and Salt Lake City, but according to Brynn Whitfield, it’s not always glitz and glamour.
The Real Housewives of New York City star got candid about frustrations surrounding her career during an interview on Jason Tartick’s Trading Secrets podcast. On the April 14 episode, she claimed she’s the only RHONY cast member to have a “full-time job” as a marketing consultant for major companies.
“We have influencers, we have models, we have art curators,” she said, referring to her castmates Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, and Racquel Chevremont. She also seemingly described former president and creative director Jenna Lyons and real estate agent Erin Lichy. “We have people that did work at J. Crew three years ago but now they’re just, like, honorary positions. We have, like, a real estate agent that hasn’t sold a house in seven years,” she added.
As Brynn called out her costars, she doubled down with compliments, saying that they were “doing amazing stuff” and “all starting businesses and being entrepreneurs.”
“They’re all very successful and making money,” she shared. The marketing consultant then said that the other housewives weren’t “doing the boring ass job that most of America” does, which is “a 9-to-5.” As she went into detail about her offscreen career, she revealed that most of her work couldn’t be filmed for the Bravo series because of her clients’ need for privacy.
“I sit at a desk and I make decks and I go on Zoom calls. There’s nothing glamorous about that,” she added. “Consulting is not glamorous. It pays well, but it’s not glamorous.”
Her comments come after the intense Real Housewives of New York City season 15 reunion, where she was seemingly on the outs with her castmates. During the season finale specifically, she got into a heated argument with Ubah, who accused her of sleeping her way into the show.
Ubah backtracked on her comment in a January interview with Glamour, where she clarified, “I deeply regret saying, ‘Maybe you slept with someone to get this job,’ and I am truly sorry for that. The context was that it felt like Brynn was pushing all of us to perform, especially me. I said that out of frustration. I told her that I got this job because of who I am—I don’t have to fake storylines or create drama. Brynn didn’t give me this job. She’s not a producer. And even the producers don’t tell me what to do or say.”
She then revealed where she and Brynn stood at the time, explaining, “That day, filming last season’s finale, I made a decision that I will not hang out with Brynn one-on-one ever again.”
“When I said I wished I could go back to before I knew Brynn, it wasn’t out of malice—it was out of love and respect for myself. I’ve spent years protecting the little girl inside me, and rebuilding this friendship would feel like a betrayal,” Ubah said, in part.
Fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, who joined the RHONY cast for season 15, revealed that she wouldn’t return to the show. “As much as I have learned along the way with this franchise and fans, I want to reprioritize the things that mean the most to me: designing, giving back, supporting women and raising my family,” she wrote in an Instagram statement posted on February 4. “I am truly grateful for the experience, the friendships and the fans that have been part of this RHONY chapter. Time to turn the page.”
