Julia Fox confirmed she interviewed to join the cast of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” but decided against signing on to the show.
Addressing fans in a livestream video, the 35-year-old “Uncut Gems” star praised the individual cast members on the Bravo reality show but explained why joining the show wouldn’t work for her.
In January, producers issued a casting call for RHONY season 16. The most recent season of the show starred Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Jenna Lyons, and Racquel Chevremont. Rebecca Minkoff appeared as a “friend” of the cast.
Julia Fox Said RHONY Really Wanted Her
In her live video, Fox said she was approached by Bravo to join the rebooted “Real Housewives of New York City.”
“They fully wanted me to be on RHONY, and I did an interview for it and everything,” the actress and model said. “And then I had this moment where, honestly, I don’t even think that I can save that franchise.”
“The women are amazing individually,” Fox explained of the cast. “I just don’t see them working, like it just doesn’t work together.”
Fox suggested a full reboot was in order, then noted that she ran into RHONY OG Sonja Morgan recently, who said she’d be game to return to the franchise.
“What kind of TV am I going to give you? I’m not rich and outrageous like that,” Fox said. “I want to see out-of-touch women saying crazy stuff. I feel like me and my generation, we’re too trained. Like we’re too social media trained.”
Andy Cohen Talked About Julia Fox Joining RHONY
“Real Housewives” producer Andy Cohen previously dropped Fox’s name when talking about RHONY casting.
In a January 2025 segment on his Sirius XM show “Andy Cohen Live,” Cohen said Fox expressed a desire to join the New York-based reality show. “And also, she’s friendly with Jenna [Lyons],” he noted to co-host John Hill. “Like, maybe this is actually… and she is a New Yorker.”
Cohen’s comment came after Fox appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and suggested that he put her on RHONY. When Cohen asked her if she would actually join the Bravo reality show, Fox teased, “You know what? I would do a season and see how it goes. I just need to shake it up a little bit.”
The status of the RHONY cast remains in limbo ahead of season 16.
