After a two-week-long hiatus,Chicago PDis finally returning to our TV screens with an Adam Ruzek-led episode.
Titled "Black Ice," Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 20—one of the last few before the season finale—the synopsis notes, "Ruzek witnesses a tragic accident on an icy bridge, leading Intelligence into a dark, sinister case involving sex trafficking.
The episode provides the final standalone case of the season, before Ruzek (Patrick Adam Flueger) and Burgess' (Marina Squerciati) long-awaited wedding, so it's understandable that it's going to be one of the darkest cases he's had to face yet.
In the teaser promo, Ruzek finds himself in a scary situation when he comes face-to-face with the offender, seemingly locked in a room with him, as a worried Burgess uses all her strength to push through the door and come to her fiancé's aid.
Fans loved to see the care between the soon-to-be husband and wife, with one commenting, "Adam in danger and Burgess is going to go monster mode," as another echoed, "Burgess ain't playing about her man, she about ready to kick down that door to save her man."
"Kim going all Incredible Hulk to get to her man - can’t wait! Their wedding is so close now!"
Others pointed out that there's been a trend with Ruzek's cases as of late, noting, "Ruzek taking kid cases hard ever since he and Burgess took in Makayla its good to see some of his ‘dad’ instincts take over."
The couple's wedding will hopefully go off without a hitch (and they can finally have their happy ending) during the season finale on Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 22.
As for what we can expect, well, even Flueger is uncertain, as he previously told TV Line, "I'm touched that they think that it's worth ending the season with it, but I don't know how it's going to go," adding, "I've always been fascinated to see how they do an episode of Chicago P.D. and have a proper wedding with all of the corn and cheese that that deserves."
