After Fire Country Season 3, Episode 17, I'm Afraid Bode Will Ruin Edgewater Beyond Repair

Tensions were high between Bode and Sharon in Fire Country season 3, episode 17, but his choice at the end of the episode might very well create problems for the entirety of Edgewater when his and Manny’s secret comes out. Poisoning the water source of Three Rock’s inmates elevated Oxalta as Fire Country’s first major villain in season 3, especially after their actions resulted in Birch’s death and Manny’s hospitalization. After Sharon’s questions got Oxalta to lawyer up, she and Eve took up arms against the corporation the best they could to protect Three Rock’s interests and its inmate firefighters.

Violet passing information to Eve was instrumental in getting Oxalta to agree to Sharon’s every demand, even resulting in Manny being freed before his time and Three Rock’s well source being cleaned up using Oxalta’s funds. However, this success came at the price of truth never coming out, as Oxalta didn’t admit culpability and Manny was freed only after signing an NDA. The deal threatened Bode and Sharon’s relationship in Fire Country season 3, episode 17, with their incessant fights moving from home to the firehouse, but Manny and Bode’s actions in the end risk upending life in Edgewater too.

Bode & Manny Choosing To Fight Oxalta Threatens To Fracture Edgewater's Community

Their Loved Ones Have Different Stakes In The Fight Against Oxalta

Fire Country season 3, episode 17 opened with celebrations at Smokey’s, with Gabriela stopping Sharon to thank her for getting her back her father. Sharon’s successful deal with Oxalta indeed made everybody happy but Bode and Manny, who couldn’t stand by as Oxalta went unpunished. At the same time, Gabriela was happy she got Manny back, Sharon and Eve were satisfied with Three Rock being cleaned up, and Violet and Jake had solved their relationship’s first big problem in the form of his friends partially despising her for representing Oxalta.

It made sense why Bode and Manny couldn’t accept that Oxalta got away scot-free, as they lost who once was their fellow inmate Birch. Coupling that with the honesty and fairness that characterized Bode and Manny when sober and Renee’s talks about a class action to bring Oxalta to their knees, it was impossible for them to get away from that opportunity, no matter how much they’d risk as a result. Still, it’s unlikely Bode and Manny can keep their involvement with Renee secret much longer, and whenever it’s revealed, it will undoubtedly upset many in Edgewater and divide them.

How A Divided Edgewater Can Be The Biggest Problem In Fire Country Season 4

Oxalta Can Easily Defeat Bode & Manny If Their Community Doesn’t Stand With Them

Renee’s words highlighted how unsure the possibility of their success is against Oxalta in Fire Country season 3, even with her impressive history of class actions. However, the chance to win becomes infinitesimal if Bode and Manny have to provide Renee with someone willing to talk while also keeping their loved ones in the dark so they don’t realize their fight against Oxalta continues. Like any secret in Edgewater, Manny and Bode’s will be uncovered soon, and facing Oxalta along with anybody else not understanding their reasons might prove too difficult to withstand.

Oxalta was presented as a dangerous foe ever since Fire Country season 3, episode 15. How Sharon reacted to learning it was their fault Birch died already teased their extensive villainy, making it necessary for Bode and Manny to face them united, with Edgewater’s support instead of doing so as a divided community. Hopefully, Edgewater can rally around Manny and Bode whenever their class action is discovered, or Bode’s choice to pursue legal action in secret and go against Sharon’s plan risks destroying the very fabric of Edgewater’s community in Fire Country.
