AL East Team Boasts Multiple Top 10 Prospects

MLB Pipeline just released their annual Top 100 prospect list, highlighting the best and brightest young players in the sport. There is only one team that can say they have multiple players ranked inside the top 10.

While the Boston Red Sox have not had recent success, the future is extremely bright with the players in their pipeline. That discussion starts with the No. 2 overall prospect Roman Anthony, who is the highest ranked position player on the list.

The former 2022 second round pick has soared through each level of the minors and has continued to hit the cover off the ball. Between AA and AAA, Anthony hit .291 with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs. Also, he had 21 steals and was able to play great defense in center.

While Anthony is the highest ranked prospect in the Red Sox system, he is a left handed bat. The Red Sox currently have a surplus of lefties in their lineup, which could lead to his teammate getting promoted before him.

The No. 7 prospect in baseball, Kristian Campbell had a breakout 2024 and is poised to be the first player to be called up by Boston this season. The right handed hitter had a breakout 2024, playing in three different levels of the minors.

Campbell can play almost anywhere on the diamond, logging time both in the infield and outfield last season. When asked about him during the MLB Pipeline broadcast, Jim Callis said "We’ve had organizations tell us that they thought Kristian Campbell was the best prospect in baseball, and it’s not particularly close."

With Anthony and Campbell, the Red Sox seem to have an extremely bright future. These two young starts should be making their mark at Fenway Park this season and are hoping to change what has been a downturn for the historic franchise.
