Alex Cora Urges Everyone to Stop Discussing Rafael Devers' Red Sox Trade

Well, it looks like the Boston Red Sox could use Rafael Devers right about now. For whatever reason, the front office didn't think that was the case and decided to move him for a horrible package.

Now, the Red Sox have lost five straight games, losing their final two against Devers and the San Francisco Giants, and getting swept against the below-average Los Angeles Angels.

Right when things finally started to look like they were turning around, the Red Sox made their decision, and suddenly, they're not playing well again.

While it's an issue, and the Devers situation could be playing a factor, Alex Cora spoke about it.

According to MassLive, he said that everybody loves Devers, but the team isn't dwelling on it and just wants to move past it at this point.

“The less you talk about the subject, the better it is for the clubhouse, for the team," Cora said. “We love Raffy, he’s a great guy, he’s a great player. We’re gonna miss him. But it’s a decision we made as an organization. The players, they’ve got a job to do, and it’s to go out there and play baseball."

Unfortunately for Cora and the Red Sox, that isn't how these things work. When a team trades away its franchise player, it typically gets talked about for a lot longer than a few weeks.

If anything, the Red Sox should’ve known that when they traded Mookie Betts, as it's still talked about to this day.

He has a point that the team has to go out and do a job, but the Red Sox haven't done that. It's an unfortunate situation, but hopefully, one that turns for them soon.
