Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios Tackle Long-Distance Relationship Challenges

Alix Earle and NFL wide receiver Braxton Berrios have been going strong for almost two years now. But after Berrios signed a deal with the Houston Texans, the couple has been learning to navigate the distance between Miami — where Earle lives — and Texas.

It hasn’t been easy for the couple, but Earle has been making the trek to Texas to visit him when his schedule keeps him from coming to Florida.

“Date night spots are really important for Braxton and I — so finding our spots there, our restaurants, finding a coffee spot there was really important,” she told “People” at the 2025 “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit” launch party.

On July 30, the future “Dancing With the Stars” contestant decided to address her fans’ questions about the current state of her relationship with Berrios, while also asking a few questions of her own.

While getting used to their new normal as a long-distance couple has been difficult, Alix Earle claimed two things have made it easier: setting her expectations at zero, and trying to catch up with each other every evening.

“The one rule that we’ve always had in our relationship, though, is that I call him at the end of the night after going out with friends,” she said on her “Hot Mess” podcast. She then brought up the feedback she gets from her viewers and fans.

“I always get comments that I’m out without Braxton, and everyone’s like, ‘They broke up. They’re not together anymore,'” she said. “And I’m like, ‘Well, do you guys realize that we don’t live together?'”

“Like, we’re not even in the same state,” she continued. “And sometimes when I am even in the same state with him, he can’t go out because he’s doing football. We end up a lot of the times, we’re like, I’m going out without him.”

She also explains that she thinks three things are the most essential components of a relationship: remaining present, having trust, and being transparent. She feels lucky that she and Berrios trust each other and have no problem with the other going out without them.

Earle talked a lot about the difficulties of being in a long-distance relationship, and what they struggle with the most. She goes on to explain that their day-to-day communication is “harder than usual” due to their schedules. While Berrio’s is a little more predictable — 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. training every day — hers is not.

“None of my days ever look the same for me, ever,” she declared.

She mentioned that their goal is to meet once a month, which has been a vast change from before, when they “used to sleep in bed together every single night.”

She admitted that it can be a struggle, because they both want to hang out together sitting on the couch, and she feels pressure to make the most of their time together.

But, she’s excited to be doing “Dancing With the Stars,” and part of it has to do with Berrios.

“I feel like LA to Texas is sort of closer,” she said. “Well, it is closer, it’s closer than Miami. So that was honestly a great thing when we found that out.”
