Riego joined the One Chicago universe after guest starring in Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 19 ("Name Image Likeness"). Riego played Ruby Rios, a stripper who crossed paths with Officer Kiana Cook (Toya Turner) after the Intelligence Unit investigated a string of robberies. After connecting the getaway vehicle to Ruby, Cook learned that local college basketball star Damone (Ruby's customer and boyfriend) was the primary suspect. After failing to get her to cooperate with their investigation, Cook offered to pay Ruby as a criminal informant.

After setting up a sting in hopes that Damone would confess to his crimes, Ruby shocked the cops by turning off the cameras and leaving the strip club. After tracking her down to a hotel room, she told Cook that leaving the club had been part of her plan to get him to confess. But Cook soon realized Ruby was giving the cops a run for their money after the couple fled authorities together. The Intelligence Unit was able to track Ruby and her lover down and arrest them, but Cook was frustrated by the poorly-led actions of her first criminal informant.

After making her acting debut in the 2016 drama series American Crime, Riego gained further recognition as Marisol Diaz in How to Get Away with Murder where she appeared in two Season 6 episodes. She later landed guest roles in series like The Rookie, NBC's Quantum Leap, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Riego played Rosa Reyes throughout Season 13 and Season 14 of NCIS: LA, where she flexed her skill for police procedurals. Riego's role as Daniela Perez in Season 1 of Promised Land only cemented her star status.
