Allen Lazard Takes Massive Pay Cut to Stay with Jets Amid Restructure Deal

Wide receiver Allen Lazard and the New York Jets have reached an agreement on a restructured contract that significantly reduces his 2025 salary, according to sources close to the team.

Originally slated to earn $11 million in 2025, Lazard has agreed to a substantial $8.5 million pay cut, lowering his earnings to just $2.5 million for the upcoming season. As part of the renegotiated deal, the Jets will guarantee $1.75 million of that figure, ensuring the veteran receiver remains on the roster heading into a crucial year.

This move reflects both the Jets’ need to manage their salary cap flexibility and Lazard’s willingness to remain with the team despite a diminished role and production in 2024. After signing a four-year, $44 million deal just a season ago — largely fueled by his chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers — Lazard struggled to meet expectations. With Rodgers sidelined for most of the season due to injury, Lazard’s impact on the field dwindled, prompting speculation about his future in New York.

The pay cut likely secures his spot on the team for now, especially with Rodgers expected to return under center. The hope is that Lazard can reignite some of the synergy the two built during their years together in Green Bay.

For the Jets, this restructure provides some much-needed financial breathing room while keeping a familiar target in the fold as they gear up for a make-or-break season.

Time will tell if this gamble pays off — for both player and franchise.
