Amanda will have to work even harder to prove herself as a worthy friend. Right now, it’s not looking too good. Her close ties to Cane Ashby have been revealed on The Young and the Restless. Nobody can trust her. She is up against an “uphill battle” to regain everyone’s trust, including Lily.
More Trouble Coming
Amanda (Mishael Morgan) has close ties to Cane (Billy Flynn), but we didn’t know how close these two were. She made it seem like he was the mysterious man who wrote her checks. Amanda claimed not to know him personally. But we’ll see these two working closely together. Amanda crossed a line on Y&R, especially with her friendship with Lily (Christel Khalil).
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Morgan teased what’s ahead for her onscreen portrayer. Amanda wasn’t happy about Cane’s reveal. Her reaction doesn’t mean she’s innocent. “That will extend onto Amanda as well, because I think she was being manipulated by two people,” Morgan explained. “Amanda and Lily have had a pretty good relationship up to this point. So I think that there is a lot of betrayal that she feels on her side that [Amanda] didn’t just come out and tell her.”
This will complicate their friendship, no doubt. Amanda will find herself in the middle of the exes. She has to be faithful to Cane because she works for him. But she doesn’t want to reveal all of her business dealings. “But trying to get Lily to understand that, I think, will be an uphill battle for sure,” Morgan said.
Lily Vs. Amanda
Elsewhere in the interview, it was hinted that Lily’s hate for Amanda will be similar to how she felt about Hilary. Morgan has played both roles and sees a clear difference between Amanda and Hilary. Amanda handles situations differently from her twin. “What’s been interesting is just playing that kind of angry side or this person who has to stand up for what she thinks is right in a different way than Hilary. And I think that was harder for me when I first got on the show and became Amanda,” Morgan mused.
This role has allowed her to channel her inner Amanda. “I feel like it just comes off so differently because she’s a lot more grounded in the way that she deals with confrontation. She’s able to handle these situations because she is an attorney, so they don’t feel the same as the Lily and Hilary dynamic when they were angry with each other,” Morgan continued.
What’s next for Amanda now that Cane’s been revealed? Will she continue to work for her boss despite the complexity of her relationships? Morgan teased that Amanda would have to prove herself to Lily. She’s not sure if their friendship will survive. “I know that Amanda is invested in repairing that relationship with Lily, but we’ll see where Lily’s head’s at as the story plays out,” she teased.
