Amanda Holden was left cringing on Heart Breakfast this morning after Jamie Theakston played an old clip of her appearing on Blind Date.
The hilarious throwback from 1991 was played during a chat about Disney+ rebooting the classic dating show with a new ten-part series.
In the clip, a nineteen-year-old Amanda tells host Cilla Black that her dream date would be Jack Nicholson.
Ashley Roberts had mentioned news of the upcoming Blind Date reboot, prompting Jamie to reveal Amanda’s own connection to the programme.
Jamie teased listeners by playing the archive audio, where Cilla asks: “If you could have a knees up with anybody men-wise, who would it be?”
Amanda replies: “Well I can only name one, can’t I? I have four, but it’s Jack Nicholson.”
Back in the Heart studio, Amanda exclaimed: “No! Oh my God! I had a real crush on Jack Nicholson. I sound ever so posh back then. ‘Umm, I can only name four, can’t I? Yah. Uhh, Jack Nicholson!’”
Jamie and Ashley burst out laughing as Amanda continued cringing at her teenage self. Ashley asked how old she was at the time, and Amanda confirmed she was just nineteen.
Blind Date originally ran on ITV with Cilla Black from 1985 until 2003. It was later rebooted by Paul O’Grady for Channel 5 in 2017. The new Disney+ version is expected to keep the same format with contestants choosing between three potential suitors behind the famous wall.
Listen to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden weekdays from 06:30 – 10:00 across the UK and on Global Player.
