Amanda Holden issues 'breaking news' as unconventional parents' evening decision uncovered

Amanda Holden has shared a bit of 'breaking news' with fans and listeners of Heart Radio before taking a break from her hosting duties to appear on Good Morning Britain.

The presenter and TV star was back on the airwaves alongside Jamie Theakston on the Heart Breakfast Show on Thursday morning (May 15), which they host every weekday from 6:30am until 10am, and had some good news to share.

Amanda announced "Heart is now the UK's official #1 radio brand" as the studio erupted in applause and cheers. She added that the radio channel had a "record-breaking" 13.4m people listening to Heart every single week.

She went on to say: "Our Breakfast show has a record 4.3m listeners. So to all of you who are listening at this moment, we are so grateful that you bother to tune in." Jamie added that he would like to "thank every single one of you" personally.

A video of the announcement was shared on Heart's social media channels with the caption: "Amanda Holden has some breaking news," before adding alongside the post: "Thank you for sharing your mornings with us."

The news came as Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda revealed she did her daughter’s Zoom parents’ evening in her swimming costume with a glass of wine due to a spell of hot weather.

The 54-year-old said her child’s teachers said she was “jammy” as they were stuck at school, in an interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain mid-way through her Heart Radio show on Thursday.

She explained: “Well, instead of a bikini, I did cover up and wear a swimming costume, can I say. But it was so hot, and I balanced the iPad here (at her neckline), so they had just this view.

"But every teacher was like, ‘oh, you’re so jammy’, because they were all stuck in a stock cupboard somewhere. What I didn’t say is that I had a sneaky little rose under my deck chair as well to get through it."

The talent show judge went on to say she wanted a group such as the Post Office Choir, a group of people impacted by the Horizon scandal which saw hundreds of subpostmasters wrongly convicted of theft, fraud and false accounting, to win this year’s edition of talent show Britain’s Got Talent.

She said: "You know me, I’m not one for sitting on the fence, and I’ve always said that I would love our Britain’s Got Talent winner this year to be a group of people.

"Because it would be amazing for the money to be divvied out amongst all of them, and for the joy to be spread, and to be at the Royal Variety, I think for a choir or a large group of people, would be amazing."
