Heart FM host Amanda Holden has shared a humorous exchange with Queen Camilla following their encounter at a charity event on 14 July.
The occasion was marked by the opening of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home's new "dog garden", which drew several celebrity animal enthusiasts.
On Monday's Heart Breakfast show with Jamie Theakston, Amanda reminisced about the rare chance to chat with the Queen, mentioning, "Her Majesty was very kind - she's a real doggy lover."
Queen Camilla, who is in Plymouth today for an historic visit that will see her appointed as Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom for the Royal Navy, even inquired about Amanda's pet dog, Minnie. Amanda recounted: "She came over to me and asked how I was getting on with our rescue of Minnie.
"So I decided to tell her the story of how I sort of pretended to my husband Chris that we were fostering Minnie."
Amanda went on to say: "Then of course Minnie used her best flirty tactics with Chris, and I said, 'It's wonderful now, Your Majesty, because every time my husband comes home, Minnie rushes up to him and rolls on her back and asks for a tummy tickle.' And my husband looks at me and goes, 'Why can't you be more like that, Mandy?'"
After revealing her husband's playful comment, Amanda shared the Queen's witty retort: "And then Her Majesty said, 'Like dog, like owner,' and I went, 'Absolutely, Your Majesty.'".
The unveiling of the new dog garden was a joint effort by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and BBC Radio 2, featuring designs from Gardeners' World celebrity Monty Don, alongside Jamie Butterworth.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home continues to provide essential rescue and rehabilitation services for animals in need.
In other news, the 54-year-old presenter experienced a Royal snub and also missed the initial 30 minutes of Monday's Heart FM programme with Jamie Theakston due to commuting troubles from Surrey to London.
She attributed the tardiness to her driver, who confessed he hadn't woken up on time as he forgot to set his alarm.
Following the revelation that this was the fifth occurrence of such an incident this year, Amanda humorously remarked, "Heads are going to roll."
