Just weeks after making history on “American Idol,” Roberts continues to live his dream. The Mississippi-born PE teacher turned national sensation proves his star is shining brighter than ever during the BET Awards 2025 weekend festivities.
From ‘Idol’ Stage to BET Red Carpet, Jamal Roberts Dominates
Fresh off his CMA Fest performance last week, Roberts graced the BET 45th Anniversary Dinner event on Saturday, June 7. The “American Idol” champion slayed the red carpet at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel.
Roberts embraced his signature vest style once again, this time keeping it sharp with an all-white ensemble. He completed the look with brown leather shoes, adding a classic touch.
“I watch BET all my life,” Roberts said during a red-carpet interview. “I want to be on the show. I’ve always wanted to be in Grammys and all the other things. And, you know, just to be here and be with all these amazing people, I’m just grateful.”

On June 8, Roberts attended the BET Awards 2025 Media House at Quixote Studios West Hollywood. The “Heal” singer, once again, turned heads at the event with his red-carpet-worthy look.
Roberts oozed star power in a fashion-forward ensemble. The “American Idol” winner rocked a bold floral-patterned button-down shirt, styled with burgundy suspenders. He kept it partially unbuttoned, highlighting his chest tattoo. He completed the look with white fitted pants, white sneakers, and dark sunglasses.
“No gimmicks, no games, just me walking in ordered steps,” Roberts captioned an Instagram post ahead of the event.
Later in the day, Roberts joined NeNe Leakes for a lively sit-down on “The NeNe Leakes Show.” He didn’t just steal the spotlight, he also stole the host’s heart when he serenaded her with a smooth rendition of “All The Things (Your Man Won’t Do)” by Joe.
Roberts also wowed fans and hosts with his soulful rendition of Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful” in another interview.

Roberts BET Awards debut has his supporters buzzing online. One fan commented, “Going from the ‘American Idol’ stage to the ‘BET Awards’ God’s plan. So happy for you!”
Another wrote, “Congratulations Jamal, God is taking you higher. So happy to see you at the BET Awards. All your dreams are coming true.”
A fan chimed in, “I can’t wait for him to get big! You’re doing amazing and been supporting u from the start!”
Others were hoping to see more of him in other big music events. One fan wrote, “Enjoy cause u will be on that stage many more times!,” while another declared, “Grammys are on the way! That’s your journey.”
