Andy Cohen Doesn’t ‘Really Think About’ Attempted ‘Reality Reckoning’

Andy Cohen and Bravo found themselves in quite a predicament during the writers’ and actors’ strike of 2023. One might think that Bravo would flourish during such a strike.

Unfortunately, as writers and actors demanded more rights from the AMPTP, prominent voices in the reality TV community wondered why they should settle. A powerful dialogue blossomed about the rights and treatment of reality TV workers.

Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel led the charge. Even after the strikes ended, Bethenny promised a reality reckoning. However, despite multiple lawsuits against Andy and Bravo, things have sort of cooled off. So, what does Andy think about all of it now?

Even though Andy still has lawsuits rolling around, he told Variety he doesn’t “really think about” the reality reckoning. Andy explained, “My job is always focusing on making the shows that I produce – and as I said a year ago, and I’ll say it again now — I am so proud to partner with incredible production companies.”

He continued, “I am proud of the systems that we had in place a year ago, and I’m proud of the systems that we have in place now that are built to look after people’s mental health and also produce absolutely great television that people around the world love.”

Andy cited Heather Gay as an example of why Housewives and reality TV are more positive than negative. Andy cited a recent interview from Heather wherein she called RHOSLC “important for women” and “feminist” media. Andy said, “it really reiterates for me everything that is important for me about this show, and it drowns out the nonsense that can be a byproduct of it.”

When asked if he’d heard from Bethenny at all, Andy said, “I don’t really pay attention. She’s very active on TikTok; I’m not on TikTok.”
