Andy Cohen recalls one ‘movie star’ guest threatening ‘to walk’ mid-‘WWHL’ after getting ‘furious’ over a question
Andy Cohen recalled a celebrity threatening to walk off “Watch What Happens Live” in the middle of a live episode after he asked a “sensitive” question.
Cohen shared the anecdote on his close friend Kelly Ripa’s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” Wednesday after she asked him the “weirdest thing” someone has ever whispered to him during a commercial break.
“My executive producer told me once, in year maybe three, that one of the two guests was going to walk because she was furious with how it was going,” he said.
Cohen, 56, recalled thinking, “Oh my God, oh my God” when the unnamed star’s publicist told him that their client was “walking” off the set.“I remember trying to kind of talk her off [the edge],” he said of his clubhouse company.
Ripa, 53, asked whether Cohen was “aware” that something was “going wrong” earlier in the episode, to which he laughed while thinking about the question that had set off his guest.
“I very stupidly brought up something — as we were going to commercial break — that I guess was very sensitive to this person,” he remembered.
Cohen said the mystery star “got out of it just fine,” but the show hit a snag when his other guest that evening said they “hadn’t heard about” the incident in question.
“Then the second guest was like, ‘Wait a minute, what? You did what?’ And then was really leaning into it, and I was like, ‘Oh God, oh God,'” he recounted.
Cohen said the second guest, whom he did not name either, made matters worse by “making her re-explain it.”
“The second [guest] was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy, that’s wild.’ It was not great,” he said.
Cohen reiterated that the nameless woman was an “actual celebrity” and “movie star” — not a Bravolebrity.
“You will never, never figure it out,” he teased while laughing.
Cohen has had countless celebrity and reality TV guests on his Bravo talk show since it premiered 15 years ago.
He told Page Six exclusively in May 2023 that his biggest “mistake” was turning down a Meghan Markle appearance before she became the Duchess of Sussex.
