'RHOA' Newcomer Angela Oakley Says Husband NBA Legend Charles Oakley "Guided" Her Into The Spotlight
Throughout Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Angela Oakley has been ducking and dodging rumors about her husband, Charles Oakley. Did he have a secret baby? Do they even love each other? The list goes on and on, but during the Season 16 finale, Angela admitted that there was some “strain” on their marriage. However, it had nothing to do with infidelity.
In RHOA Season 16 Episode 17, the cameras rolled as Angela met with her therapist, who also happens to be Charles’ therapist, too. During their session, Angela opened up about how her real estate venture became a huge money pit.
Angela found herself in a $2 million hole because of her suite of investment properties, and by the time Season 16 ended, she was feeling desperate to get them off her hands. The ginormous debt was beginning to put pressure on her relationship with Charles.
“I have all of my money in these houses, and I’m in the ditch about all of ’em,” she told her therapist. “I am like, if I lose ’em, I’ll just lose ’em. It’s just too much.”
According to Angela, Charles warned her against taking a bet on real estate. She said she “went against him,” and now, she’s paying the price. Literally.
“These houses have put a strain on our marriage because I’m constantly asking Charles to pump more money into these properties. And now he’s at a point where he doesn’t want to,” Angela explained in a confessional.
She continued, “We have since reduced the price on all of these homes. I feel like we’ve done all that we can do in order to protect my marriage. Sometimes you have to cut off your finger to save your hand, and that’s what I’m doing.”
At the end of the Season 16 finale, Angela’s update confirmed that three of her five investment properties sold while two were “lost.” We’ll have to tune in to the reunion to learn how dumping the properties has impacted their marriage.
