The Indianapolis Colts joined the rest of the NFL in beginning training camp this week to start preparation for the upcoming season.

Anthony Richardson Shines at Colts Training Camp Amid Heated QB Battle

One of the biggest headlines of the offseason was their highly anticipated quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and former New York Giant Daniel Jones.

Heading into day three of camp, the general consensus was that both passers were showing a lot of promise, but neither one was sprinting out to a lead in the battle.

Friday’s practice was a big day for both quarterbacks, but one has finally gained the upper hand after previously being neck and neck.

The former No. 4 overall pick struggled mightily with his accuracy over his first two seasons, which was a large part of the reason for bringing in competition.

After completing a lowly 59.5% of his pass attempts in his rookie season, that number dropped to 47.7% last year.

Richardson was reportedly laser focused on perfecting his mechanics this summer, and up to this point, that investment has paid off.

According to multiple Colts reporters who saw the practice, it was by far his best day of camp, and he was clearly the best quarterback on the field.

The most inspiring aspect for Colts fans is that Richardson was said to have been extremely accurate in the short and intermediate passing game, two areas of the field he struggled mightily with last season.

Indianapolis is still scheduled to host 10 more practices before they play their first preseason game, so there is still more than enough time for the Florida product to lose his grip on the starting gig.

Considering the draft capital the team has invested into Richardson, it would be in their best interest for him to win the job.

If he stays on this trajectory, then that should be a piece of cake.
