Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks’ ex-husband, Apollo Nida, fired back at his estranged wife Sherien Copes’ divorce and slammed the accusations he stepped out on the marriage, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Apollo, 46, scoffed at the suggestion he emotionally and physically abused Sherien, but agreed the marriage was over.
As In Touch first reported, Sherien filed for divorce from Apollo on February 7.
In her filing, Sherien accused her ex of adultery and cruel treatment. The date of marriage was listed as October 14, 2022, and the date of separation as November 1, 2023.
Sherien said she was not asking for any spousal support from Apollo. She said the marriage was irretrievably broken and “there is no hope” that they can reconcile.
Sherien slammed Apollo for his alleged behavior during the marriage.
She wrote, “[Apollo] has committed adultery multiple times throughout our relationship. [Apollo] refused to seek professional help with his mental health issues and instead he emotionally and physically abused me and brought great emotional abuse to his stepdaughter.”
Along with her divorce petition, Sherien filed an alleged settlement agreement, which appears to be signed by the parties in October 2024.
The alleged agreement read, “The parties shall continue to live in marital home and each one shall be free from all interference and control by the other, as fully as if unmarried, and each may reside at such place until both parties find a suitable home and all asset division has been agreed upon.”
The alleged deal included a restraining order against Apollo.
The lleged deal also stated, “By consenting to this, [Apollo], in no way admits that such acts were ever done in the past, but agrees not to engage in such acts in the future.”
Apollo previously told In Touch, “I did not agree to anything we [will] have to have our day in court. A lot of that language is false.”
In his court filing, Apollo disputed the date of separation that Sherien listed.
He said they officially separated in fall 2024, not 2023. He also noted the parties have a settlement agreement in place.
He noted, “I currently have no restraining order issued against me and [Sherien] and I have no history of physical violence. We have disagreements but we have an amicable relationship with each other.”
Apollo, who agreed the marriage was irretrievably broken, denied Sherien’s accusations he committed adultery or that he had emotionally and physically abused her.
He also denied he subjected her to cruel treatment or deserted her. Apollo said he “adamantly denies being an emotional abuser towards [Sherien] or bringing any type or form of abuse towards [Sherien] or” her daughter.
Apollo said he does not want support from Sherien and claimed they already divided their marital assets.
In addition, Apollo filed a motion to restrain along with his answer to the divorce. He explained he has appeared on several reality shows over the years and considers himself a public figure.
"By slandering one another and defaming each other’s character can impose great harm to one another’s legacy and financial gain. Both parties also have young children that could be privy to negative statements and or comments that are made towards each other from the other Party,” his motion read.
Apollo asked that the court order both parties to be restrained from slandering or defaming the other in interviews or on TV shows.
As In Touch first reported, Apollo was arrested for simple assault back in March 2024 after an incident with Sherien. The two got into an argument where they accused the other of cheating. They both denied the claims.
Sherien claimed during the argument, Apollo pulled her hair and pushed her against a refrigerator. She said she ran outside for help.
She showed the police a video of the incident, but it did not capture the alleged physical altercation
For his part, Apollo told the police he tried to take his wife’s phone during the scuffle. He said she balled up on the ground, but he was able to get the phone.
He said Sherien ran outside for help, but he ran after her to give her the phone. The police report noted Sherien did not have any marks or bruises on her. Apollo was arrested and taken to the local jail, where he was booked on a charge of simple assault.
He was released on $3,000 bond. A plea hearing is scheduled for April.
