Ariana Biermann & Riley Burruss Share Where Moms, Kim & Kandi, Stand Today
Next Gen NYC's Ariana Biermann and Riley Burruss revealed new details about their moms' relationship now after they previously experienced a tumultuous one.
In a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Ariana and Riley opened up about Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss' current dynamic — and although The Real Housewives of Atlanta alums haven't met up yet, the Next Gen NYC friends intend to bring the women together.
"But I know my mom wants to, you know, reconnect and we all want to do like a dinner or something together," Riley said in the interview.
Ariana emphasized that she and Riley need to be there for the pair's reunion, so they are waiting until Kim and Kandi are both in the city at the same time. She has hopes that she and Riley can help the women reconcile."I feel like we could definitely bring them and reconnect them together," Ariana said.
What happened between Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss in their feud?
Kim and Kandi used to be close when they appeared on RHOA together, but multiple arguments strained their relationship to the point of no return.
The women's beef began when Kandi claimed she was not paid her fair share of publishing royalties for co-writing and co-producing Kim's song "Tardy for the Party," during the RHOA Season 3 reunion. The tiff escalated when Kandi and the song's other producer and writer sued Kim for copyright infringement in 2013.
Another notable fight came soon after. This time, the pair argued over baby names: Kandi claimed Kim purposefully stole her name idea for a future baby boy with her then-fiancé and current husband, Todd Tucker.
Where do Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss stand today?
It's unclear what their current status is, but Kim's appearance on RHOA Season 15 brought the pair's decade-old drama to the surface. While having dinner with Shereé Whitfield, DeShawn Snow, and Lisa Wu during Season 15, Episode 9, Kim reflected on her relationship with Kandi after they hugged at Porsha Williams' wedding.
When asked if the hug meant they squashed their beef, Kim said "just because I hugged her doesn't mean I squashed it."
Kandi reacted to the moment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "As far as her saying [we had beef] — what beef? Girl, we don’t have a beef.”
“No, we don’t [have beef], because the last time I saw her, she was extremely nice, and she was acting like I was coming up to her. She was saying, ‘Oh girl, come on, let’s hug, that was so long ago,’" Kandi added. "She was saying that to me, and I was glad to reciprocate because I don’t have a wish to keep that going, you know what I’m saying?”
Inside Ariana Biermann and Riley Burruss' friendship
Ariana and Riley met up in New York City for the first time in over ten years during Season 1, Episode 2 on Next Gen NYC. Both Ariana and Riley, who grew up in Atlanta, were nervous to meet up because of their parents' falling out. "I honestly don't know what it's gonna be like to see her, or if we're gonna, like, vibe," Ariana said in the episode. "It feels weirder because we do know each other, but we don't at the same time."
Fortunately, the girls hit it off. They both agreed that whatever happened between their moms shouldn't affect their friendship. "I called my mom before [meeting you] ..." Riley told Ariana. "But she was like 'don't let what went on between me and her mom affect y'all, like y'all are completely different, y'all are adults."
"Our mom's stuff, I don't feel like is our stuff," Ariana added.
The pair has only gotten closer after their reunion, with Riley helping Ariana acclimate to living in New York City.
