Arienne Mandi, known for her role in Netflix’s ‘The Night Agent’, is stepping into a brand-new character in NBC’s popular police drama ‘Chicago P.D.’.
According to ‘Deadline’, Mandi has been cast as a series regular for the upcoming 13th season of the show.
Arienne Mandi will play Officer Naomi Kerr, a fearless former soldier and military contractor who now works with the Chicago Police Department. Her character is described as someone who isn’t afraid to face danger and keeps her personal thoughts and emotions hidden. Naomi is seen as an outsider who doesn’t open up easily, but she’s sharp and thrives in high-pressure situations.
While character details might still change during production, fans can expect Naomi to bring a fresh energy and new challenges to the team, especially since she’s joining at a time when the unit is facing serious turmoil.
Season 13 picks up after the dramatic events involving the murder of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, played by Shawn Hatosy. This shocking turn of events was reportedly carried out by Sergeant Hank Voight, the long-running and complex character portrayed by Jason Beghe.
The unit is still dealing with the fallout from that storyline.
At the same time, other characters are dealing with their own troubles. Officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) and Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) had been under scrutiny for a secret affair between Torres and his confidential informant, which Burgess helped cover up.
Although they’re no longer under investigation, it’s unclear what impact that storyline will continue to have.
Regular cast members LaRoyce Hawkins and Patrick Flueger will also return for the new season. After all, that is the core of the Intelligence Unit.
In the midst of new arrivals, one character is making an exit. Toya Turner, who played Officer Kiana Cook, has confirmed she won’t be coming back for Season 13. Reflecting on her time with the show, she said, “I’m grateful for the time I had bringing Kiana to life. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me so warmly.”
Mandi’s career has been on the rise lately. Besides ‘The Night Agent’, she also stars in ‘Tatami’, a critically acclaimed film that premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
She is also going to appear alongside Jon Hamm in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s ‘Your Friends & Neighbours’.
