Arvid Soderblom Selected to Team Sweden for the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship

As the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship nears, international teams are announcing their roster for the tournament. Team Sweden announced their roster on Monday, April 28, and Arvid Soderblom was named as one of their goaltenders.

The Men's Worlds will take place from May 9 to May 25 in Sweden and Denmark. While it won't be as exciting as a true best-on-best international tournament, it's still fun hockey to watch in between NHL playoff games. Soderblom joins Alex Vlasic and Frank Nazar as Blackhawks players to participate in the tournament.

Arvid Soderblom took a large step in his development this season. After Laurent Broissoit had surgery and his recovery timeline turned from months to the whole season, Soderblom was forced to back up Petr Mrazek. Side note, as pointed out by one of our Four Feathers Podcast listeners, Broissoit may have been spotted in the North Woods with Bigfoot. We are still working to confirm.

Soderblom finished the season with a .898 SV% and a 3.18 goals against average in 36 games. While not great, the first half of the season was a shocking turnaround from his mediocre 2023-24 season, where he had a .880 SV% in 32 games. Soderblom finished with 4.67 goals saved above average and had a .909 SV% through the first 16 games of the season.
