Atlanta Falcons Projected to Bring in Huge Impact Defender for 2025 Season

Raheem Morris and the Atlanta Falcons are looking to work their way back into the playoff picture. It has been awhile since the team was viewed as a legitimate threat in the NFC.

Despite that fact, they have been building the right way over the past couple of years. Heading into the 2025 NFL season, it will be the start of a brand new era in Atlanta.

To begin the season, it is expected that second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will be the lead man under center. Assuming that is true, he’ll offer a new look for the offense.

In order to become a serious contender, the Falcons will need to add to their defense. Right now, they hold the No. 15 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and have been viewed as a prime candidate to take a defensive prospect.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com has released a new seven-round mock draft. He has Atlanta taking a standout linebacker with that selection.

Jihaad Campbell was the pick for the Falcons in this mock draft. He has been connected to the team on multiple previous occasions.

“Campbell would be a great fit for the Falcons, who want to be more multiple on defense under new coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. Campbell has the speed to make plays inside the box, in coverage and as a blitzer.”

During the 2024 college football season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Campbell put up big-time production. He totaled 119 tackles to go along with five sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception, and two defended passes.

Those are the kind of impact numbers Atlanta needs to add to its defense. If Campbell is there at No. 15, the Falcons should seriously consider bringing him onboard.

Looking at the long-term future, Campbell could develop into an individual star, but he also has leadership skills. Making the decision to draft the standout linebacker could be the start of building a special defense in Atlanta.
