Mooney and McCloud complement Drake London well, but each can hold their own at the wide receiver position
All eyes have been on Atlanta Falcons superstar wide receiver Drake London, but the wide receiver room in Atlanta runs much deeper than just London. London will again have a considerable role in the offense and likely increase his output in various categories.
Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud will also look to have a breakout year of their own. McCloud had his best season to date last year in Atlanta, having had 62 receptions on 87 targets, and was a weapon on offense. McCloud has never come close to the number of receptions he received last season. His second highest would be his 39 catches in 2021, resulting in only 277 yards total.
McCloud is not the only receiver whose numbers are expected to increase. Darnell Mooney, who would see 106 targets last year and have 64 receptions, will also look to have a bigger role on offense. Both his targets and receptions would result in his second-best season since coming into the NFL in 2020 with the Chicago Bears.
All of Atlanta's offensive weapons will be looking for an increase on the stat sheet to give this team an opportunity to win. The focus has solely been on the defense this offseason, and most of the offense has stayed the same. Atlanta will also look to get a better grasp on some UDFA wide receivers in training camp to see if they could come in and contribute to the team's new identity.
Both McCloud and Mooney can be used to spread the field, and they pose a deep threat. They can also be speedsters in the slot if Drake London draws a double team. Atlanta has a potent offense and will utilize all of its weapons to keep opposing teams on their toes.
