Avаlаncһe Cаptаіn Loаned to Colorаdo Eаgleѕ for а Condіtіonіng Stіnt

For three years, the return of Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog has been debated and questioned more times than thought possible.

As of Wednesday, April 9th, the possibility looks more real than ever.

The Avalanche announced on Wednesday that the captain will head up the hockey highway to Loveland on a conditioning loan to the Colorado Eagles, AHL affiliate of the Avalanche.

Per the Avalanche on Wednesday morning:

"Gabriel Landeskog has been loaned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on a conditioning assignment. He will practice with the Eagles today and then hopefully have an update in the next day or two."

PR update from the team

Landeskog has been on LTIR since the season following their Stanley Cup Championship in 2022. He is eligible to play in up to three games for the Eagles before he has to be removed from LTIR.

The Avalanche have three games left in their schedule, the last of which falls on Sunday, April 13th. After that, he is eligible to return for the playoffs without his salary affecting the cap.

The next game for the Colorado Eagles is scheduled for Friday, April 11th, the first of the 2-game weekend series against the Henderson Silver Knights.
