Avalanche sign Jason Polin to one-year, two-way deal

The Colorado Avalanche announced Friday they signed forward Jason Polin to a one-year, two-way contract.

According to PuckPedia, the deal is worth $775,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the minors.

The 25-year-old completed his first full professional season, scoring four goals and six assists for 10 points in 42 games with the Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate. He also appeared in seven games with the NHL club, getting called up and making his debut Jan. 8, then scoring his first-career goal in a game Jan. 16 against the Ottawa Senators.

A native of Holt, Mich., he was signed as a free agent by the Avalanche after he finished his college career with Western Michigan University in March 2023. During his four seasons of college hockey, Polin scored 60 goals and 36 assists 96 points. He was named captain during his senior season in 2022-23, and he made a name for himself, scoring 30 goals and 17 assists for 47 points in 39 games.

He recorded five hat tricks through the season, the second-most in school history. He was tied for the lead in goals in the country with Adam Fantilli.

Before going to college, the forward played 157 career games with the USHL’s Cedar Rapids RoughRiders between the 2016-17 and 2018-19 seasons, scoring 50 goals and 34 assists for 84 points. He finished his final USHL season with 30 goals and 20 assists for 50 points.
