Bachelor Data’s Suzana Somers on Whether Preshow Followers Signals ‘Wrong Reasons’ on ‘Bachelor’

Getting real.

Bachelor Nation fans have grown to love Suzana Somers, aka Bachelor Data, on social media over the years.

She has garnered over 150,000 followers on Instagram and over a million likes on TikTok.

Suzana keeps track of all sorts of data on Bachelor Nation stars and transforms the world of reality TV and pop culture into fascinating data stories.

This week, the social media star stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast where she discussed a hot topic among fans.

Suzana chatted with co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt about if having a large social media following before going on a Bachelor Nation show could indicate that a cast member is on the show “for the wrong reasons” (fame over love).

Bachelor Data shared, “I know that there are people who are new here and they don’t want people on the show gaining followers, they want it to be focused on love. Then they’ll cite people like Madi Prewett and Hannah Ann Sluss saying they went on the show only for love and that they didn’t have big social media followings before.”

She went on, “That’s wrong. Before the season started to air, Madi had over 40,000 followers on Instagram already and Hannah Ann had 87,000 followers.”

Serena chimed in saying that this piece of data “disproves” the theory that you have to have basically no followers beforehand to be coming on the show for genuine reasons.

Serena said, “People can be coming on with disingenuous reasons with 90 followers or 90,000 followers. And they can also be coming on with good intentions regardless of follower count too.”

Suzana agreed, sayin, “Most people know that their odds of getting the final rose are pretty low, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t there for a shot. They have seen so many amazing relationships that have come out of this franchise. If it’s not on the main show, they may end up on ‘Paradise’ and lots of people end up getting married who go on ‘Paradise.’ There are so many different ways you can find love on this show.”
