BACHELOR in Paradise producers are making a big change ahead of the upcoming season to avoid a ‘safety scare’ with its contestants, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.
Marking the biggest shakeup in the Summer spinoffs’ history, The Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants looked for love at a brand new resort in an entirely different country.
Since Bachelor in Paradise first premiered in 2014, it has filmed all nine seasons during the Summer in Mexico.
Season 1 was filmed at the Casa Palapa resort in Tulum, while seasons 2 through 9 were taped at the exotic Playa Escondida oceanfront hotel in Sayulita.
However, for the first time ever, Bachelor in Paradise will be fleeing Mexico and is headed to film season 10 in Costa Rica.
The contestants will be spoiled with private pools and air-conditioned rooms for the first time ever at the Azura Beach Resort.
Adding more insight into the major production change, an insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun: ”The contract with the Mexico resort was up.
“But more so, the show needed to find a place they could film that had air conditioning.
"The Mexico resort did not have air conditioning and there were some close calls and big scares due to the heat (mixed with alcohol and all the emotions of the show) that they wanted to avoid.”
The source added that when execs decided that contestants from both the Golden Bachelor and the Golden Bachelorette would be added to the mix, it was “not a question” that they needed to find a location that had AC to avoid any safety hazards.
“When it was decided they were going to bring some Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants on who are much older, it was a no brainer the filming location had to change.
“They cannot have seniors out on the beach in 110-degree weather with no AC.
“Once they decided to bring the Seniors on, production made it clear to find an exotic location with AC. It was a non-negotiable."
The filming locations in Mexico did not have air conditioning and were plagued by constant heat and humidity.

Temperatures would breach 100 degrees Fahrenheit during these times, with the only sense of relief being a jump in the pool or warm ocean.
In April, ABC shocked Bachelor Nation when they announced the spinoff would be ditching its longtime home and heading to Costa Rica.
Adding more change to the new season, it was also announced that fan-favorite Bachelorette Hannah Brown would be joining the cast - but not as a contestant.
The DWTS champ will be alongside host Jesse Palmer and famed bartender Wells Adams to “bring the bubbly to rose ceremonies” in the “all-new Champagne lounge.”
GOLDEN HOUR
In an even more shocking turn of events, it was also revealed that for the first time, the Golden Bachelor contestants would be mixed in the younger hopefuls.
“For the first time ever, Golden men and women will be hitting the beaches of Paradise alongside all of your Bachelor and Bachelorette favorites of seasons past.
“So how is this whole thing going to work? You’re going to have to tune in to find out when an all-new Bachelor in Paradise premieres this summer,” host Jesse announced at Grant Ellis’ After the Final Rose finale in March.
Amongst the notable alumni returning include Bachelor Nation members: Alexe-Anne Godin, Bailey Brown, Brian Autz, Dale Moss, Hakeem Moulton, Jeremy Simon and Jessica Edwards.
They will also be joined by: Jonathon Johnson, Justin Glaze, Kat Izzo, Kyle Howard, Lexi Young, Ricky Marinez, Sam McKinney, Spencer Conley, and Zoe McGrady.
Additionally, some Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette alums will be getting another shot to find love.
Fan-favorites Leslie Fhima, Gary Levingston, April Kirkwood, Charles “CK” King, Kathy Swarts, Kim Buike, Keith Gordon, and Jack Lencioni joined the lineup.
Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise premieres on July 7th at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
