THE Bachelorette has been criticized for trying to mimic another reality dating show in its newest teaser.
The longtime ABC series released its first look at Season 21 on Wednesday, which stars fan-favorite Jenn Tran.
Jenn, 26, was a contestant on Season 28 of The Bachelor and was eliminated by Joey Graziadei in Week 7.
She was announced as the new lead during The Bachelor finale earlier this year, despite many fans believing Maria Georgas would be next to take the reins.
Ahead of Jenn's season, which premieres on July 8, ABC shared a teaser to get fans excited for what's to come.
However, the clip's style was completely different from other promos in the past — putting a fresh, young, new twist on the show.
Jenn was seen wearing a bright red dress in front of a bright purple background as she playfully entered a coin into a claw machine.
The promo was also set to the pop song, Power, by Little Mix.
SWITCHING IT UP
Some fans thought the teaser, with its colors, zoom-ins, editing, and music, closely resembled the reality series Love Island.
The popular reality dating show, which originated in the UK, has migrated over to the US and will even be hosted by Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix for Season 6 this summer.
"When Bachelorette hires the Love Island producers/editors! I’m here for it," one person commented on ABC's Instagram post.
"Why did they make this look so much like love island," a second added.
"This looks wayyy too much like Love Island I was honestly confused for a second," another wrote.
"They need to stop trying to emulate love island…they’re never gonna be love island lmao," someone else said.
While The Bachelor franchise has had a more mature approach to dating over the years, Love Island has centered on putting a group of attractive individuals in an island villa and "seeing what happens."
The show also features plenty of humor and fun moments, while The Bachelor tends to sway more toward the dramatics.
Some fans also thought the new teaser resembled the Netflix series Love Is Blind, as similar coloring and font had been used in previous LIB promos.
"Bachelorette trying to look like a Netflix show now," one person said.
"It’s giving Love is Blind promo," wrote a second.
BACHELORETTE SZN 21
Jenn's journey for love will begin this summer, just months after viewers saw her get sent home on The Bachelor — right before hometown dates.
Jenn is a physician assistant student from Miami, Florida, and has been recognized as the first Asian-American Bachelorette.
As Jenn was announced as the Bachelorette earlier this year, she opened up about the importance of her new role.
"It’s honestly incredible and I feel so, so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian Bachelorette in this franchise," she said.
"Growing up, I’ve always wanted to see Asian representation on TV.
"I feel like it was really sparse. Anytime Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype.
"I always felt boxed in by that because I was like, I don’t see myself on screen. I don’t see myself as a main character."
Fans can watch the beginning of Jenn's journey on July 8, where she will meet her 28 suitors at the Bachelor Mansion.
