Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson gave the team an ultimatum about his future recently, further fueling the already persistent trade ideas floating around this offseason.
Hendrickson wants to stay with the Bengals alongside a pay raise, which the team has said he’s earned. His agent has confirmed upcoming meetings to work on these pesky details.
In the meantime, before anything happens on that front, ideas such as the Bengals trading Hendrickson to the Chicago Bears have surfaced, courtesy of For the Win’s Cory Woodroof:
To keep Cincinnati’s offense as lethal as it wants to be, trading Hendrickson away and landing his replacement in the 2025 NFL Draft could be a possibility to save money. The Bears have a lot of cap space, and Hendrickson could reunite with his old New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator in Dennis Allen.

The idea behind this prediction is that the Bengals free up cap space in order to re-sign both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to long-term extensions, which is the very next prediction on the list.
Luckily for the Bengals, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. They have the cap space necessary to extend all three, provided they get creative with the structuring. Joe Burrow has stressed he’d rework his contract to help, too.
But again, until something happens, Hendrickson’s name will keep popping up — and his moving remains a slight possibility if the Bengals don’t get his numbers right.
