Joe Cool is now Joe Chill ... 'n Netflix.
In teasing trailer that debuted this week, the streaming service jokingly toyed with an idea for a documentary series following sports mascots before unveiling the real stars of its next show. The Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow, Detroit Lions' Jared Goff and Atlanta Falcons' Kirk Cousins will be the focus of Quarterback, filmed throughout the 2024 season and into 2025.
The docuseries is scheduled to premiere in July during NFL training camps.
Quarterback debuted in 2023 spotlighting Cousins, Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota, and was one of Netflix's top-streamed series. Last year the series shifted angles to Receiver. Burrow declined an invitation to be on the 2023 show, but agreed to be a part of Season 2.
It should be an interesting watch, as Burrow led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, but again failed to lead his team into the playoffs after a dreadfully slow start. The Bengals won their final five games to finish 9-8. It was the first time Cincinnati missed the postseason with a healthy Burrow.
He won NFL Comeback Player of the Year after missing half of 2023 with a wrist injury.
In December while the team was in Dallas playing the Cowboys on a Monday night, Burrow's home was burglarized.
The Bengals committed to bringing back his top two receiving targets this offseason, giving contract extension to both Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase.
