Bengals Re-Sign Key Special Teams Player
As the Cincinnati Bengals continue to tweak the roster for a divisional title run in 2025, one player will remain from the special teams unit.
The Bengals have announced they've retained the services of long snapper Cal Adomitis for another season.
Admoitis was scheduled to become a restricted free agent next month, but an early deal means the team can scratch him off the list of priorities.
The former Pitt Panther went undrafted in 2022 and signed with the Bengals as a free agent that offseason. He's appeared in 49 games for Cincinnati over the past three seasons and has posted six tackles in the regular season and one in the playoffs in 2022.
The only remaining item for the Bengals' special teams unit is kicker Cade York, who is set to become a restricted free agent on March 12. York finished the season in Cincinnati while Evan McPherson was on injured reserve. McPherson is under contract in 2025 so the Bengals could let York walk.
In an unrelated move, the Bengals have also announced the release a veteran defender in Sheldon Rankins.
The 30-year-old signed a new two-year contract last offseason and started seven games in 2024 with 18 tackles and one sack.
Rankins ended last season on the non-football illness list. The Bengals will gain an additional $9.62 million with just $2 million in dead cap money.
