Be careful how you phrase your thoughts. This is a lesson learned the hard way by Bethenny Frankel (again) for saying that the Hamptons are filled with “not only rich people” but minorities, too. Yikes.
“There are all kinds of people here. There’s a big Latin community here. There is an African-American community here. Beautiful houses,” she continued on TikTok. Not surprisingly, people weren’t pleased with this statement. And many had something to say about it.
Rich doesn’t automatically equal white
Naturally, Bethenny’s clip went viral. The View co-host Ana Navarro replied to the clip of the former Real Housewives of New York star’s racially charged comments.
Ana shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “News flash: White people are not the only ones capable of having money. There are rich Black and Rich Latins.”
Many netizens also added their comments on the tweet, calling out Bethenny and her demographic analysis.
“I guess Asians and South Asians don’t get to be Hamptons rich,” one user commented. “Meanwhile, we are the highest earners in the country, but what do I know?”
Another replied, “…because ‘rich’ means ‘white’?”
And yet another user commented, “Black people have always lived in The Hamptons. And yes, some of them are wealthy. She needs to stop.”
“What happened to people, based on color or culture, just human beings!” another comment said. And finally, one user wrote, “Her saying she’s racist, without saying she’s racist.”
Not the first time
Bethenny has yet to respond to the backlash, but it’s hardly the first time she’s been criticized for something she’s said.
Previously, we wrote about how fans slammed Bethenny after she insinuated that a cashier at TJ Maxx couldn’t afford a $70 makeup palette after gifting her one. Many fans called her entitled and just rude.
But Bethenny’s not completely oblivious. She admitted in a follow-up TikTok video, “I think I’m being canceled!”
Well, at least there’s some self-awareness. But something tells me this isn’t going to be the last time Bethenny finds herself in this type of situation.
